The 6th annual Eel Pie Row took place on Sunday 5th June 2016.
This year there was intense competition between team Rezonators (headed by Reza) and the “Rezabeaters”. Reza may have won that battle, but the overall winning team were the Cornish team.
It is a race for cutters twice around Eel Pie Island (famous for the legendary Eel Pie Island Hotel, a music venue where the Rolling Stones, The Who and Rod Stewart have all performed).
Races start at 1pm outside the White Swan.
Teams compete in cutters, rowed 6 oars, to perform a timed two laps of Eel Pie Island with the fastest team in each category being declared the winner. Whilst teams are competing, there’s lots of fun on the bank by the White Swan and a prize ceremony afterwards.
You’re guaranteed plenty of banter and camaraderie with RBBC supporters, friends and family, enjoying a beer or two at the White Swan – that also happens to serve excellent food! What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than by the river…bring a few friends and enjoy a good time.
See you there!
